Bad oversight at Red Bull Red Bull received the disqualification of Isack Hadjar’s RB22 at the end of Qualifying for the Miami GP which the French driver concluded in ninth position. In fact, on Hajdar’s car, part of the surface exceeded the technical regulations by 2 millimetres. Usually when a car is irregular it is automatic to wonder if its twin was also irregular, but Max Verstappen retained the front row as his RB22 passed the technical checks. Team principal Laurent Mekies explained that it was a human error: “We made a mistake on Isack’s car – said the number one on the Red Bull wall reached by planetf1.com – the car was two millimeters too wide. We should have identified it earlier during our routine checks. We didn’t do it and it’s a serious mistake, but it’s easy to fix. Hajdar and Verstappen had the same specifications.” According to what Mekies added, Red Bull has solved 3 problems out of the 5 that afflicted the RB22, so there is still – as for everyone – room for improvement for a team that has returned to breathing the air of the high rankings in Miami with Max Verstappen.
