When will it be Ferrari’s time? On the eve of Q3 in Miami there was a lot of uncertainty about the possible poleman, an uncertainty that had certainly not been experienced in the first three rounds of the season. In the end, Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes came out on top, ahead of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari and Lando Norris’s McLaren. Four different cars in the first four places. Leclerc’s somewhat disconsolate look at the end of the session prompted many Prancing Horse fans to ask themselves: but when will Ferrari bring everyone into line? Leclerc does not hide his frustration. Speaking to F1TV, Charles Leclerc revealed a certain disappointment in seeing everyone making great steps forward, while Ferrari always remains among the top 3-4 teams, without ever having that flash to place itself in front of everyone. “As soon as you change something, even a small detail on these cars, you can see big leaps in both directions,” Leclerc admitted, adding: “Max and Red Bull brought a crazy update this weekend. In Japan I think they didn’t reach Q3 and now they’re in the front row, it’s impressive. We also brought a very significant update.” Then the small outburst: “It seems that now everyone is closer to each other. Yes it’s exciting but I have to be honest: I just wish Ferrari were in front. Let’s see how it goes tomorrow, we know that our race pace is strong.” Leclerc was not satisfied with his qualifying: “Compared to yesterday it went a little worse, we weren’t good at predicting how we would fare in qualifying and how the grip would increase. We didn’t evaluate these aspects well.”
