Fifth place on the grid confirmed Lewis Hamilton was Ferrari’s best driver in Qualifying for the Canadian GP, finishing in fifth position. The seven-time world champion was placed under investigation by the Stewards for a potential impediment against Pierre Gasly during Q1. The Stewards analyzed the images, telemetry data and listened to the parties involved. Hamilton said that Gasly didn’t seem committed to a fast lap and he got the same impression from the Ferrari wall. Gasly and Alpine declared that they did not consider Hamilton’s conduct an ‘unnecessary impediment’ so the Stewards’ decision was not to penalize Hamilton. Below are the images of what happened.
