Hamilton driving Ferrari As difficult as it is to investigate the emotions of a champion, one is not far from the truth if one states that Lewis Hamilton has never been so happy at Ferrari. The Brit arrives in Austria galvanized by the success achieved in Barcelona, a victory which confirmed the progress of the SF-26 and which represented the highest moment of his journey in red. The triumph in Catalonia strengthened the confidence of the entire team and (sensationally) relaunched the world championship ambitions of the seven-time world champion, now -41 behind Kimi Antonelli. Strengthened by the enthusiasm accumulated in the last round, Hamilton faces the weekend at the Red Bull Ring with the aim of giving continuity to the results and consolidating the magical moment on a circuit which, however, should not reward the characteristics of the Ferrari as it requires great thrust from the engine. Which, despite the first power unit update granted by the ADUO, still creates problems for Maranello. Hamilton’s words “I think I’m really proud of the whole team, it’s as if every person in this team brings something, and everyone is pushing harder than ever, improving themselves. We are working in the most united way than ever, with the great leadership of Vasseur: seeing the improvements we asked for in Barcelona and here too is a sign of how the team has worked incredibly hard. Even the one on the engine is a step forward, even if not complete, and that’s what we must continue to do”, this was the comment of the Briton at the Red Bull Ring. “It’s great to have a car that finally has the things I asked for. We’re moving together and we’re collaborating very well. I love driving this SF-26, now I’m starting to be able to implement the things I asked for, and that’s the thing that makes me feel best.” Hamilton’s optimism, however, does not lead him to think about the championship: “I concentrate weekend after weekend and arrive at the circuit thinking only of wanting to win the race, without talking about the World Championship. Neither I nor the team are thinking about the championship. I’m thinking race by race and I’m thinking about repeating the performance in Barcelona, where thanks to the pit stops and the strategy we were all in tune.”
