In Miami with revised rules During the break in April, the FIA and Formula 1 moved to try to understand how to introduce changes to improve the weak points of the 2026 regulations. And on April 20th a detailed list of changes was released which will mostly come into force from Miami and which will concern some aspects of qualifying, races, starts and driving in the wet. What does Hamilton think? Overall, the drivers said they were satisfied with having been listened to in the discussions held in recent weeks, but some did not seem so impressed by the list of changes. Max Verstappen spoke of “a tickle”, Fernando Alonso went out of his way to say that “not much will change” and even Lance Stroll seemed rather critical and sceptical. Even Lewis Hamilton, in the interviews on Thursday in Miami, didn’t seem to expect who knows what: “It’s not exactly a new F1, but we’ll see. I’m not sure how these changes could affect the races. I’m not sure how big this step forward is, we’ll find out.” The Englishman did, however, let slip one observation: “Obviously we tried them on the simulator, to me it all seemed quite the same. I’m sorry, but that’s how it is. But who knows, maybe the races will seem better but I don’t know. We’ll see.”
