Ferrari, the limit for Hamilton Ferrari approached the Miami weekend with great hopes, deriving from the introduction of the first major update package and the GP debut of the “Macarena” wing. The improvements were seen in terms of pace and flying lap, but they were not up to the level of the growth recorded by McLaren (returned competitive for the victory) and Red Bull, with a Max Verstappen appearing reinvigorated. One of the Super Max battles in Miami came with Lewis Hamilton, who had wet dust due to a contact in the initial stages of the GP with Franco Colapinto. However, the Briton was able to identify the area in which Ferrari must invest resources to keep up with the competition. Hamilton’s words “The team worked incredibly hard to put the updates on the track, and they allowed us to take a step forward, but the others also improved. McLaren’s innovations were worth much more than they expected, which didn’t happen with us. So they are definitely doing something different”, these are the words of the seven-time world champion. “Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull are doing something different to us with the front wing,” he specified. “We have to analyze everything to see if there is something we can improve, but just look at the others’ wing and compare it with ours, you can see the difference. I don’t know if the gap is necessarily there, but I wonder what effect it has, because the others seem to have it and have improved.”
