Race at risk After a month spent with the engines turned off, the Formula 1 drivers will return to battle this weekend in Florida, where the fifth edition of the Miami Grand Prix will be held. However, the possibility of taking to the track on the street circuit remains a serious unknown, linked in this case to what could be adverse weather conditions. The main concern is neither on the Sprint qualifying nor on the Sprint race (scheduled for Friday and Saturday respectively), but on Sunday’s race. The first two days of the weekend, as reported by Accuweather.com, present a very low risk of precipitation, almost completely non-existent for Friday. Added to this are partly sunny skies, but the real fear will be for Sunday. The probability of rain, in addition to being close to 90%, is added to the concrete risk of thunderstorms, estimated at 53%. The possible presence of lightning in the vicinity of the track could lead to the suspension or even cancellation of the race (including the Formula 2 one), due to the safety regulations in force in the United States. The fact remains that, beyond this fear, the possibility of precipitation remains very high.
