After taking pole position in the Miami Sprint, Lando Norris actually wins the short race in Florida ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari. The Monegasque, after resisting Kimi Antonelli in the first part of the race, breaks away from the Mercedes and chases the Australian, but the SF-26 clearly lacks top speed to be treacherous when overtaking. However, this is a solid result, which confirms the goodness of the Red team in terms of race pace: while waiting for the progress of the power unit allowed by the ADUO, the Scuderia must now get the qualifying sessions right to hope to be able to compete with McLaren. The Papayas are also fresh with updates, they have great pace and, unlike the Mercedes, they don’t suffer at the start. That start, however, which still represents Kimi Antonelli’s weak point: even today the Bolognese skated at the start and lost his position on Leclerc. An anxiety-inducing mistake, which produces a nervous and tense Sprint: the 2006 class driver finds himself fighting with George Russell and arrives ahead of him at the finish line, but is penalized for having exceeded the track limits four times (the last one in turn 11 on the final lap). He remains leader of the World Championship, but now the advantage over his teammate is seven points. Behind the Mercedes, the American Sprint is fired up by Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, who touch each other at the start and fight with respect: the Dutchman prevails, who doesn’t have the pace to keep up with the Mercedes but enters the top-5 due to Antonelli’s penalty. Pierre Gasly also scored in the points (Alpine did well, also with Franco Colapinto), problems on the reconnaissance lap for Nico Hülkenberg and Arvid Lindblad.
