P7 for Alpine driver Franco Colapinto in Miami was the protagonist of a great weekend which ended with the best result of his career thanks to the penalty inflicted on Charles Leclerc who climbed to eighth position, promoting the Argentine to seventh. The Alpine driver didn’t get off to a great start when the traffic lights went out, but he was very clever in the first corners to make up ground thanks also to the chaos triggered by Verstappen’s spin. During the first lap Colapinto also had contact with Lewis Hamilton, but unlike the English driver’s Ferrari SF-26, his Alpine had no consequences. “I’m definitely satisfied – said Colapinto – we made the most of everything we could. I felt a bit alone in eighth position, with the leading teams once again too far ahead of us, but despite everything we did a great job as a team in terms of strategy, pit stops and execution. I had a bit of a slow start, so I lost a few positions, but then we recovered quite quickly and I was basically back where I started. We had a small contact with Lewis Hamilton, but luckily we didn’t suffer excessive damage and we could continue. From that moment on, the pace was fast and we managed everything well.”
