Silverstone F1 2026, the numbers of a record-breaking edition With the British GP we can say that Formula 1 is truly coming home. Not only because it is precisely around the Silverstone track, in the heart of the so-called English motor valley, that the headquarters of most of the 11 F1 teams on the grid are located, but also because it is precisely in this former Royal Air Force airport that, way back in 1950, the first Grand Prix in history was held. A house that, 76 years later, promises to be particularly crowded: the organizers predict that for the next round on the calendar, over 550,000 tickets will be sold over the entire weekend, which will make the English race also the one with the largest public presence ever. Click here to add Formula Passion as a favorite source on Google Discover: you will find our contents more easily An undoubtedly prestigious achievement, which is also accompanied by the related activities that the Formula 1 product generates every year in the United Kingdom and in the regions of Northamptonshire where, in fact, the Silverstone and Oxfordshire track is located. In fact, it is estimated that the race generates over €115 million a year for the local economy, with the forecast of contributing more than a billion pounds by the end of the current contract (renewed in 2024 until 2034) with F1. How much is the “F1 product” worth in the United Kingdom And then there are also the activities connected to the fact that ten of the eleven teams on the grid have their headquarters or in any case an operational base in the United Kingdom: as is known, the only one absent is now Ferrari because in addition to the six teams with British DNA (Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull, Alpine, Williams and Aston Martin) also Racing Bulls, Haas and recently also Audi and Cadillac have opened their own structure in the area, which also helps the transfer of engineers from a team to the other. Beyond the sporting aspects, this has obvious economic implications, with the creation of at least 6,000 jobs and 12 billion pounds (almost 14 billion euros) of GDP generated by the presence of Formula 1 teams in the area. All without considering the related industries, i.e. all those companies that, in various capacities, produce components and provide services to the teams: Formula 1 estimates that the English motorsport industry supports around 41,000 jobs in 4,500 companies, with the addition of apprenticeships, programs for new graduates and initiatives for students of STEM faculties (acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, i.e. the scientific disciplines) usually organized by the teams and by F1 itself. Added to this is also the Formula One Group technology hub in Biggin Hill, where the Formula 1 offices are located and that large part of television production and direction that does not need to travel around the world, as well as the Pirelli plant in Didcot, Oxfordshire, where the tire supplier has its main logistics, compound preparation and recycling hub. This is why, at Silverstone and in the United Kingdom, an increasingly global F1 always remains at home.
