The return to the top 10 After the 9th place obtained in Audi’s debut GP in Formula 1 in Melbourne, the German company had to face various difficulties dictated by retirements or results always close to the points zone. Finally, on the occasion of the Silverstone weekend, the Four Rings can leave England with a placing in the points, obtained once again by Gabriel Bortoleto. The performance signed by Bortoleto and Audi The Brazilian, the same driver who had given Audi the first satisfaction in F1, this time improved his final result, passing under the checkered flag in eighth place: “I’m really happy with today’s result – he commented after the race – the team fully deserves it. We’ve contested several races without scoring points, and it was difficult when you see the potential of the car but can’t turn it into something concrete, so this is certainly a great encouragement for everyone”. “Today, finally, we showed why we are here and what our true pace is. Realistically, I think eighth place reflects our current position. It’s been a long weekend: yesterday we almost got knocked out in Q1, and today’s result could have been completely different if we had started further back on the grid. The team did an incredible job to put everything together, get the car into the right speed window and then deliver both a solid qualifying session and an equally solid race. I’m really happy for everyone, both on the track, in Hinwil and Neuburg: everyone worked hard for this, and this result further demonstrates the step forward made with our latest package.” However, the person who achieved what appears to be his first and only podium in F1 at Silverstone last year was Nico Hülkenberg. This season’s race, however, ended prematurely for the German driver, betrayed by a technical problem on lap 36: “It was a formative weekend, but today ended in a frustrating way for us. From the start, something didn’t work perfectly: already in the laps approaching the starting grid something strange could be perceived, and the start itself wasn’t up to expectations, an aspect we clearly need to work on. In the race, I had to push a little too much in the dirty air and I We had a small spin, which made it difficult to manage the tyres, which ultimately forced us to retire. On the other hand, it’s fantastic to see Gabi score points: it’s a really important result for him and for the team, and it shows the potential we have when everything is working properly and, although we came close at times, the momentum can change quickly and I’m confident it will come back to us keep working, stay focused and keep pushing as a team.”
