What a mockery for the Italian. Max Verstappen’s rear wing failure at the end of Q3 only damaged Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who immediately raised his foot in light of the yellow flag waved by the Stewards. The Ferraris had closed the lap before Verstappen’s exit and Russell lifted his foot just enough to avoid seeing his time cancelled. Speaking to Sky, Antonelli underlined that what happened yesterday “is all experience”, but subsequently made no secret that he did not understand the Race Direction’s decision. “There was a car against the wall in a fast corner, so I don’t understand why they didn’t wave the double yellow flag straight away, because it’s an extremely fast corner – Antonelli’s words – if you go off the track at that point, it can end very badly. I think it was all a bit confusing.”
