from SPIELBERG (AUSTRIA)
“The whole team at the factory is working with great intensity to make the most of the additional opportunities offered by the ADUO mechanism, in full coherence with our development roadmap. The update we introduce to Spielberg is relatively small and reflects the work carried out in recent weeks […]”. Thus Enrico Gualtieri, Power Unit technical director, confirmed the introduction of the first of the two evolution steps of the Ferrari engine in the Austrian Grand Prix. An encouraging sign: even without a great immediate effect, the Cavallino’s move prepares the real ‘revolution’ of the second update expected after the summer break (Monza?). For its part, Audi was even quicker: Hulkenberg and Bortoleto would have already brought the first evolution of their engine to the track in Barcelona, without anyone – or almost nothing – In short, two proofs that the ADUO system is already in force and has been cleared despite the controversies raised primarily by Red Bull. All is silent. It’s a shame, however, that everything is silent from the Federation: no official communication on the ranking of the most powerful internal combustion engines, no green light declared publicly. According to what has been learned by , not even Spielberg will clarify anything regarding the ADUO, inevitably continuing to fuel doubts and shadows on an already controversial system had expressed disappointment about the provisional ranking (which saw them sensationally ahead of Mercedes) asking to carry out the analysis process before the official verdict. A verdict which, however, has not yet arrived despite the fact that Ferrari and Audi have already put their updates into the car. The ambiguity regarding the ADUO continues to call into question the entire process that the FIA and the teams had designed to speed up the process of convergence of performance on the power unit side. Unfortunately, the only conceivable convergence to date is towards the WEC which – just from this year – has banned any kind of public information on its performance level, the BoP.
