Perez removes pebbles from his shoes Sergio Perez stood out during the Silverstone media day. The Mexican from Cadillac is experiencing a season at the back this year, but his experience in the debuting American team seems to have allowed him to rediscover that confidence in his own abilities and talent that seemed to have completely vanished during his last season in Red Bull, in 2024. Speaking with journalists present in Great Britain, Perez did not spare a dig at his former team which after him struggled a lot to find a driver to permanently partner Max Verstappen. “I’m very satisfied with my level of performance, with what I achieved during the year and in qualifying – declared Perez, speaking to journalists – so far it’s gone quite well and I’m really happy. My confidence has completely returned. I’m really happy and confident. It’s as if the confidence that I had lost in the last six months with my previous team has completely returned and I think I’m able to express myself at a very high level.” One key to making Perez smile again seems to have been, on the part of Cadillac, to put the veteran from Guadalajara at the center of the project, while in Red Bull at the end of his adventure Checo was now a foreign body to the team: “Feeling one with the car and with the team – explained Perez – gives me back all the confidence and awareness of being able to give my best”. An awareness that, finding himself alongside Max Verstappen, had completely disappeared.
