GP Qatar has not moved since November 29 The war in Iran has also had natural consequences in the world of sport, with F1 and MotoGP having had to rethink the calendars. In the spring there were no conditions for racing in the Middle East, and not even now – at the gates of summer – has a positive evolution arrived that can first of all calm tensions in the area and then allow us to think about organizing a GP. F1 continues to monitor and evaluate the possibility of recovering one of the Middle Eastern GPs not held in April (Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) in the knowledge that re-scheduling them both will be impossible. Even the simple reintroduction of a stage will be difficult, also for logistical reasons: the complexity of the calendar makes any change particularly delicate from an organizational point of view, even if the situation were to return to stability in the coming months. There are many stakes, and another was put by the president of the Qatar Motorcycle and Automobile Federation, Abdulrahman Al-Mannai, who explained that the date of 29 November will not be changed to make room for possible recoveries, underlining how the Qatar GP is closely linked to the subsequent final round in Abu Dhabi: “No, the date will not be moved. I don’t think there will be changes, because we are practically just one step away from Abu Dhabi, which is the last round”, these are his words to The Athletic. “I think it’s really difficult to move any dates right now.” Among the solutions being studied is that of placing the possible recovered race between the Azerbaijan GP and the Singapore GP (Sunday 4 October), which would avoid cluttering the calendar at the end of the season but would require a considerable logistical effort on the part of teams, organizers and suppliers. But these are hypotheses that will only hold up if rapid geopolitical improvements occur in the Middle East, and it is clear that F1 has a deadline in mind to decide (probably before the summer break) and plans B to flesh out the calendar.
