Hadjar and Gasly Despite having ended up under investigation twice for different reasons, Isack Hadjar achieved his first career podium with Red Bull at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Frenchman, in fact, did not suffer any penalties, unlike what happened to his compatriot Pierre Gasly, who despite having finished in third place was relegated to seventh due to two separate time penalties. The sadness In both cases, the Alpine driver was fined 5 seconds for exceeding the speed limit in the pit lane, as happened to many other competitors during the race. The transalpine team, through the words of Flavio Briatore, has already prepared to present the right of review, in the hope that the podium in the Principality can actually be conquered by Gasly. However, the current and official result has in every respect disappointed the 30-year-old, who was very close to realizing his dream of a top-three finish in such a special race: “I am absolutely devastated by the result of the race – he commented – I feel so many emotions right now, not only after such a demanding weekend in which we were often at the limit and pushed so hard, but also because my lifelong dream, that of getting on the podium in Monaco, was taken away from me for reasons that I just can’t understand.” The driver himself is adamant that there was a problem with the speed detector, as well as recalling having activated the limit before even entering the pit lane: “I know I was under the speed limit in the pit lane and activated it well before the line. We also have a margin to avoid going over the limit, so I just hope they can review the situation properly and give us the result that all of us in the team deserve. It is certainly unusual that so many drivers and teams have been penalised, so something is clearly wrong. I was aware of the situation when we stopped for the red flag and I tried to push as much as possible to maximize the final result, knowing that the penalty would be applied. As for the race, it was close and eventful. We managed to overtake Lando [Norris] into Turn 1 and then we had to defend ourselves hard against him for most of the race. On the second restart I overtook Isack [Hadjar] outside, so definitely a race that I’m proud of and where the team did a great job. I know the team has appealed, so I hope we get the right result. I will take a few days to relax at home and then focus on Barcelona, where I will certainly stay motivated for another good result and continue our points streak.”
