Ferrari used the forced April break to work on the inverted moving wing, along with the other aerodynamic updates that will debut in Miami. The experiments on the Macarena have been going on since February, with the team intent on improving the behavior of the system, especially in the braking approach. The track day in Monza revealed the changes developed in Maranello, although the most important improvements concern the implementation system. The updates to the Macarena The inverted mobile wing that Ferrari tested on the Brianza track represents an evolution of the version from earlier this year. What is especially striking is the addition of a small element above the mobile profiles, the exact function of which is not entirely clear. The changes, however, also concern the external bulkheads of the endplates, which now have a sharper geometry. In all likelihood, the Scuderia has also retouched the wing profiles in search of greater efficiency, without distorting the spoon approach at the beginning of the season. The new Macarena rests on two new support pylons. Laterally, they appear elongated towards the rear, perhaps to strengthen the structure of the wing. In any case, it cannot be ruled out that the changes in this area also aim to influence the flows that flow under the profiles differently. Finally, on the internal wall of the right endplate you can see the bulge which betrays the presence of the mobile flap actuator. This one has a different inclination compared to the previous version, confirming how Ferrari has worked hard on the opening and closing mechanism. The objective So far, the team has refrained from using the inverted mobile wing in the competition, having encountered some critical issues, especially in the closing phase. In Maranello we worked precisely to improve this phase, with the aim of ensuring the drivers have sufficient aerodynamic stability at the rear to attack braking. The braking phases will be even more important after the changes to the regulations, which should have eliminated the need to do lift and coast in qualifying, forcing you to rely more on the brakes to slow down the car. In Miami we will see if Ferrari has managed to solve all the problems, but by then the SF-26 may no longer be the only car with an inverted moving wing. Some images of the updated Red Bull, engaged in a filming day at Silverstone, showed another very particular system on the RB22, albeit with some differences from the Cavallino Macarena.
