A four-year endurance test by Europe’s largest automotive club revealed that the Volkswagen ID.3’s battery is remarkably durable. This has boosted consumer confidence, challenging long-standing concerns about the lifespan of electric vehicles.
The German Automobile Club (ADAC), Europe’s largest automobile association, announced that the Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S Tour electric vehicle ( HOUSE) announced the results from four years of grueling endurance testing. These results revealed that battery degradation was much less serious than commonly assumed. During the experiment, the ID.3 traveled more than 107,000 miles (about 160,000 kilometers) and its battery health was closely monitored by the Bavarian Testing and Technology Center. Contrary to widespread concerns among potential EV buyers, the high-voltage battery retained an impressive 91% of its original net capacity, well above Volkswagen’s warranty warranty of 70% after eight years or 160,000 kilometers.
