The 2025 FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) is poised for a thrilling finale, with the title fight wide open heading into the final two rounds. Among the contenders firmly in the hunt are two Pirelli-equipped drivers: Andrea Mabellini in a Škoda Fabia and Jon Armstrong in a Ford Fiesta.
The championship run-in begins on the asphalt roads around Aberystwyth at Rally Ceredigion (5-7 September), where the European elite will face off against the best of the British championship for the second consecutive year.
Famed for its unique blend of speed, precision, and spectacle, the Welsh event features a demanding 185.24km of timed stages over 12 tests. Its varied and challenging terrain – often made damp or wet by intermittent heavy rain – provides the ultimate test.
“We expect a fiercely contested rally right down to the Power Stage,” commented Pirelli Rally Activity Manager Terenzio Testoni. “Victory will go not only to those who make the fewest mistakes, but also to those who choose the best tyre and race strategy. The stages feature uneven and broken road margins that pose a significant risk to both cars and tyres. Add in narrow, twisting sections, forest tracks, and mountainous terrain with constantly changing grip levels, and it becomes a hugely challenging event – especially if it rains, making conditions even more treacherous.”
Pirelli will supply its crews with the P Zero RA hard compound (RA5B), medium compound (RA7E), and soft compound (RA7+C) – the prime choices for this rally given the expected low temperatures and variable weather. The Cinturato RWB wet weather tyre will also be available should conditions deteriorate.
