Pure passion Bearman: in tears and speechless after testing Senna’s Lotus

An iconic Lotus On Monday 6 July Oliver Bearman got behind the wheel of the 1985 Lotus Renault 97T with which Ayrton Senna achieved his first victory in Formula 1 (in the memorable Estoril race in the wet).
A memorable moment for the young Haas driver, who was understandably very impressed by the experience he had at his home track of Silverstone. Bearman gets excited “It’s incredibly special to be here and to be able to drive it in a few hours. I’m over the moon and, yes, it’s crazy to see it”, explained Bearman even before taking to the track.
And after a few laps at the wheel of the Lotus 97T, Bearman returned to the pits and stopped in the pitlane sobbing and in tears, so much so that he needed a few moments before leaving the iconic cockpit. Bearman then got out of the car still shaking and speechless from the experience. Seeing a Formula 1 driver just 21 years old so excited because he is aware of the history of the historic car he drove is truly something that reconciles with the true soul of motorsport.
