BYD’s Denza Z convertible debuts at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. With 1,000 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately two seconds, this electric grand tourer promises supercar performance.
Exactly one year ago, the Denza Z coupe concept was unveiled in Shanghai. Now, the convertible version has been unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. The exhibition was curated by Wolfgang Egger, who has been BYD design director since 2016 and has previously worked at Alfa Romeo, Seat, Lancia, Audi and Lamborghini. The experience of creating sports cars is clearly visible in every detail of the new convertible. © B. Naumkin, Tarantas.News Denza Z Convertible is shown as a pre-production model; Its official presentation will take place in July during the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Compared to the Coupe, the Convertible features a less aggressive aerodynamic kit and is positioned as an elegant grand tourer with a 2+2 layout. However, its performance is said to be on par with real supercars: 0-100 km/h takes around two seconds to accelerate. © B. Naumkin, Tarantas.News Technical details about the Denza Z’s powertrain are still limited. It is known that each wheel has its own electric motor, four in total, and the total power exceeds 1000 HP. The chassis is expected to be tuned at the legendary Nürburgring, but the Denza Z is unlikely to break the lap record of the more powerful Yangwang U9 hypercar (also a brand owned by BYD). The question of hybrid variants remains open for now.
