Red Bull continues to push development and presents itself in Montreal with other updates. What is particularly striking is the fund, where a decidedly innovative solution appears, already present in Miami, designed to circumvent the regulation while respecting its constraints. Furthermore, the Milton Keynes team worked on the front wing in an attempt to give Verstappen a car that was more focused on the front, repeating the trend of recent seasons. The idea on the bottom The most important news on the RB22 in Canada focus on the bottom, evolving the solutions introduced at the beginning of the month in Miami. The team retouched the central keel under the frame, while on its sides it refined the flow conveyors in the entry section of the bottom, without distorting the initial setting. It is precisely in this area that Red Bull’s creativity stands out, which since the beginning of the year has structured the innermost element as a large curved bulkhead to which the other four conveyors are attached, obtaining a geometry that helps push the flows outwards. The Milton Keynes team, however, went even further, with a decidedly astute interpretation of the regulation, whose geometric constraints limit the flow conveyors at the entrance to the fund to five, or at least this was the collective interpretation. Red Bull, on the other hand, already in Miami found a way to quadruple the number of strips, obtaining three more vortex generators from each of the main elements. By doing so, the most advanced part of the floor generates a high number of vortices which help to energize the flows that flow under the car, improving the load and aerodynamic stability. The other updates from Montreal The idea on the bottom has been present on the RB22 at least since the Miami Grand Prix, while other developments have arrived in Canada. The front wing, for example, is equipped with new mobile profiles, apparently more loaded to shift the aerodynamic balance towards the front. This is nothing new for Red Bull, which in recent years has often worked on the front end to give Verstappen a car that is increasingly pointed forward. Furthermore, also in Montreal, the team modified the outlet section of the front brake ducts and the cooling grills on the bonnet, interventions which however are simple adaptations to the characteristics of the Canadian track. Despite the innovations and creativity of some solutions, Red Bull’s weekend certainly didn’t start in the best way. Verstappen complained above all about the rear, which decidedly danced on the many bumps and curbs of the circuit named after Gilles Villeneuve. Furthermore, slow corners are certainly not the strong point of the RB22, which however could return to have its say with the start of the European season.
