Sometimes they come back The 2026 season is the first for Red Bull without the presence of Helmut Marko in the pits. The former Austrian driver had been a key figure for the Austrian company’s F1 project since his debut in the top motorsport category in 2005. At the end of last year Marko – who will blow out 83 candles at the end of April – decided to say enough and take a step back, as he had hinted for some time.
The former Red Bull consultant followed the first three races from home and has not yet been seen in the paddock, although he has given some interesting interviews.
The new role taken on by Helmut Marko, which also has to do with Formula 1, has been news in recent days… Marko will be ambassador of the Red Bull Ring On Thursday 9 April, in fact, Marko was appointed new ambassador of the Red Bull Ring, a circuit owned by Red Bull. During the “Primavera Styria” event, Marko commented: “I am enthusiastic about this new role. I have a long-standing bond with this track. Due to my age I experienced the very first F1 GPs, in 1970, and there was incredible enthusiasm. With the entry of Red Bull, the racetrack has entered a new dimension.”
Marko will be an ambassador for both F1 and MotoGP. Thomas Uberall, CEO of the circuit, explained the reasons for choosing the Austrian: “He is originally from Styria and the track is located in Styria. We get along well and he has a good relationship with Red Bull. To avoid him stopping completely after retiring, I proposed this to him.” Marko will therefore be back in the paddock on 28 June for the F1 race and on 20 September for the MotoGP.
