- With two wins from eight races, Lexus has challenged the established order in just its second World Championship season
Lexus brought the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season to a successful finish with victory in the hotly-contested LMGT3 category at the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
Lexus is establishing its performance credentials by challenging more established racing brands and pushing boundaries, while providing opportunities for drivers – including young hopefuls and ambitious gentlemen drivers – to participate at the highest level of sportscar competition.
The #87 Lexus RC F LMGT3, entered by the AKKODIS ASP team and driven by Petru Umbrarescu (Romania), Clemens Schmid (Austria) and José María López (Argentina), started the race from fourth position.
From the start of the race, the Lexus RC G LMGT3 showed impressive performance against intense competition. The #87 Lexus RC F LMGT3 negotiated a challenging eight hours around the demanding Bahrain International Circuit to take the chequered flag in first place.
The #78 car of Arnold Robin (France), Finn Gerhsitz (Germany) and Ben Barnicoat (Great Britain) had set the pole position time on Friday but suffered misfortune in the race.
Victory secured a podium finish in the final standings as well, with the #87 Lexus RC F LMGT3 finishing third in the 2025 FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams in just Lexus’ second season in the World Championship.
The RC F LMGT3 is an authentic racing version of the high-performance RC F coupe which is homologated for competition, and a relative newcomer to WEC competition, having made its debut in February 2024. Since then, the AKKODIS ASP team and its drivers have grown stronger together with their RC F LMGT3 and finishes the season as a multiple race winner.
