Audi runs Nuvolari prototype at Goodwood Hillclimb

Putting a near-production prototype on a public hillclimb is Audi’s most direct statement yet that the Nuvolari is almost ready Audi has run a near-production prototype of its Nuvolari supercar on the 1.86km Goodwood Hillclimb, driven by nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen. The render marks the first quick public demonstration of the hybrid supercar. Deliveries of the production vehicle, limited to 499 units, are planned to begin in the first half of 2027. Nuvolari is described as Audi’s fastest and most powerful production vehicle in the brand’s history and the first vehicle to carry the revised design language. The first figures show a weighted combined fuel consumption of 11.3 l/100 km and a weighted combined electric power consumption of 7.8 kW/h per 100 km. Kristensen said in a statement: “What is impressive about the Nuvolari is the new quattro powertrain and the way all systems work together, from vehicle dynamics to aerodynamics and braking. Technologies such as high-performance hybrid powertrains, active aerodynamics and energy management have inspired motorsport and are constantly being improved for road use.” Also shown at Goodwood was the Auto Union Lucca, a 1930s racing saloon from Audi’s historic collection, in action for the first time. The vehicle set a fast start mileage record in 1935 at 320.267 km/h. Audi recreated it from historical records and unveiled the remake in Lucca, Italy, in May 2026. The new RS 5 plug-in hybrid was also available for test drives at the Goodwood Circuit.
