Licensing DDF to Bucci Composites is the way to scale Syensqo’s composite technology to OEM production at higher volumes Syensqo and Bucci Composites have signed a licensing agreement for Syensqo’s Double Diaphragm Forming (DDF) technology, combining the materials firm’s automated composite forming process with Bucci’s structural parts expertise, making materials suitable for OEM production. The partnership targets high-volume production of automotive structural parts, bodywork components and battery housings. DDF is a one-step automated forming process that produces repeatable composite parts with shorter cycle times. Syensqo says the technology reduces total cost of ownership, simplifies logistics, increases part accuracy and integrates with existing manufacturing infrastructure. “Licensing Syensqo’s DDF technology and working together on material qualification allows us to strengthen our capabilities and meet OEMs’ growing needs for higher volume production of structural parts, bodywork components, battery housings and many other applications,” Bucci Composites Managing Director Andrea Bedeschi said in a statement. Gaurav Unni, Global Sales Leader, Automotive Composites, Syensqo, added: “This agreement highlights the value of combining our proprietary DDF technology with advanced pre-impregnation systems to enable faster, more cost-effective composite production.” Bucci Composites, which has been operating in composites production since 1988, will use the DDF license to qualify Syensqo’s resin systems for automotive applications. The deal expands the long-standing relationship between the two companies.
