The Dutch are not optimistic. After an enjoyable weekend with plenty of on-track battles at what is always a spectacular circuit like the Red Bull Ring, the 2026 F1 cars are set to undergo a very tough test at Silverstone in Great Britain. The British motorsport temple has praised the qualities of the F1 cars of the 2022-2025 technical cycle based on ground effect. In Northamptonshire, drivers have enjoyed dealing with insane downforce in fast corners, but now that’s all changed. 2026 cars have less downforce and, most importantly, energy management during the tour will be a big problem because it will not be easy to charge the battery on a track where you brake less. Max Verstappen warned everyone at the press conference to prepare for a Silverstone that won’t be Silverstone: “I had to laugh when I tried it in the simulator, it’s a different track,” said Verstappen, “the battery barely lasts one lap, the throttle is always wide open, it’s going to be very difficult because you can’t charge the battery.”
