A Sunday without F1 Today Formula 1 was supposed to restart in Bahrain, originally the fourth round of the 2026 World Championship. The attack on Iran by Israel and the United States and the response of the Islamic Republic against the other states of the Middle East have, however, made it impossible to organize the Sakhir (10-12 April) and Jeddah (17-19 April) GPs in April. To fill the gap, F1 has scheduled a rerun of the 2021 edition on its channel. This is the link to watch the race from five years ago: the rerun will start at 5pm, the same time the actual GP should have taken place. The 2021 race was important because it was the first event of a memorable season, which ended amidst a thousand controversies in Abu Dhabi. The GP, won by Lewis Hamilton ahead of Max Verstappen, confirmed the impressions of the tests: Red Bull closed the gap with Mercedes and the Dutchman finally put himself forward for a title season. It remains to be seen whether Formula 1 will adopt the same solution in seven days, another weekend that the war in Iran has “freed up”. Officially, these two races have been postponed, but not permanently canceled from the calendar. F1’s plan is to await geopolitical developments in the Middle East in the hope of resuming racing in a few months, although for the moment there is no sign of a quick end to the conflict.
