Pecco was able to share the garage with a phenomenon
Francesco Bagnaia after eight years in 2027 he will leave Ducati to move to Aprilia. The three-time world champion shared the garage of the official team of the Borgo Panigale company with Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini and Marc Marquez. Pecco proved to be faster than the Australian and was not dethroned by his compatriot even if the shoulder injury in the first ever Sprint certainly did not make the task of a Bastianini easy who arrived in the official Ducati team in full swing after a super season in Gresini.
The comparison with Marc Marquez, however, proved to be unequal for Francesco Bagnaia, at least in 2025. The atmosphere inside the garage, however, never got too heated: “I’ve never had any problems with my teammates, I’ve always been very calm with everyone – said Bagnaia, guest of the podcast BSMT (Basement) conducted by Gianluca Gazzoli – Ultimately Marc is an intelligent person, he adapted immediately, we had a good relationship right away and very often we discussed different situations and solutions on a technical level, it was a beautiful coexistence. Sometimes he also tried to give me advice when I was in difficulty, for example he advised me to try racing with a different tyre. In the end, a great champion is a champion if he has a great rival, so rivalry is sought.”
Bagnaia also explained that in 2024 Ducati had made him aware in advance of the fact that he would have Marc Marquez in the garage: “The day before the press release came out, Luigi Dall’Igna, Davide Tardozzi and Mauro Grassilli came to tell me this thing and honestly I was kind of expecting it because in any case the maneuver to take him in Gresini was in the projection of the passage to the official team and therefore I was already expecting it. Honestly I look at his data and he is extremely precise in what he does, so it helps to learn. I have always taken the opportunity to fight against him as a teammate as a stimulus.”
