Spy photos reveal the 2027 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss Custom, a more affordable off-road pickup based on the Work Truck trim with revised styling and all-terrain tires.
Chevrolet is continuing to test the next generation of the Silverado 1500, and this time prototypes have captured one of the most intriguing versions: the 2027 Trail Boss Custom. Unlike the LT, this variant is based on the utilitarian Work Truck trim, making it more affordable but no less capable off-road.Based on exterior spy shots, the truck will get a revised front end. It features a new grille with a double bar and a two-tier lighting setup, where the upper units serve as daytime running lights and turn signals. The front bumper eliminates the aerodynamic skirt, improving approach angles and making the pickup more suited to rough terrain.Design cues include massive wheel arches and Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires sized 275/65 R18. Notably, the prototype lacks side steps, hinting at a factory suspension lift and focus on off-road capability. An interesting detail is the absence of the traditional roof antenna — engineers appear to have integrated it into the rear cab spoiler.The mirrors and rear doors have also been redesigned, pointing to a comprehensive restyle. Technical details remain under wraps, but expect new gasoline engines from GM’s Gen6 family, along with a revised TurboMax engine and the continued availability of the Duramax diesel.The Trail Boss Custom is a logical answer to market demand: maximum off-road capability without the extra cost of luxury trim. If Chevrolet maintains the balance of price and performance, this version could become one of the segment’s top-selling pickups.
