Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles had a successful visit to the Great British Fleet Awards 2025, claiming the title for ‘Medium Van of the Year’ with the all-new Transporter, as well as a third consecutive ‘EV Van of the Year’ title, with the ID. Buzz Cargo.
Judged by an expert panel of editors, Fleet News’ Great British Fleet Awards celebrate excellence in the industry, from fleet management to products and services, with the winners announced at the annual awards ceremony in Milton Keynes last night.
The multi-award-winning ID. Buzz Cargo earned its latest accolade for its iconic design and the new and enhanced range of options available, with a version suited to every fleet. This includes the newly-launched entry-level 59kWh variant, alongside 4MOTION all-wheel drive versions, and the standard 79kWh ID. Buzz Cargo.
Commenting on the ID. Buzz Cargo and its third consecutive win, John Kendall, Editor at Van Fleet World, said: With Chinese manufacturers launching into the UK LCV market this year, the competition in the electric van sector is hotting up. For this year though, the ID. Buzz Cargo retains our EV Van of the Year title, thanks to its expanded range and head-turning design. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced a lower priced entry level model, which should be more attractive to fleet users. As we noted last year, the simple instrumentation and clean cab design is shared with the VW ID. electric car range. A 276-mile range on a full charge helps to add to its appeal.”
Taking home the title of ‘Medium Van of the Year’, the all-new Transporter is the ultimate tool for professionals. Praised for its practicality as an everyday workhorse, the seventh-generation Transporter boasts an impressive 6.8mload volume, 1.2-tonne payload and 2.8-tonne towing capacity. With variants including a Panel Van, Kombi, Shuttle and double-cab, in addition to a choice of powertrain and wheelbase, and a selection of highly-specified trims, the judges also celebrated the variety of the Transporter line-up, designed to suit a wide range of business requirements.
John Kendall adds: “Transit Custom was our winner last year, joined in 2025 by the recently launched seventh-generation Volkswagen Transporter. The Volkswagen offers more load space, payload and towing capacity than its predecessor. Both offer comprehensive specifications. There are two lengths and two roof heights and a range of passenger carrying models from both Ford and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Both are good to drive and offer a range of power options.”
Craig Cavanagh, National Fleet Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, adds: “We’re thrilled to be recognised with not one, but two titles at the prestigious Great British Fleet Awards, and especially proud to retain the EV Van title once again. This also marks our first award win for our all-new Transporter, which went on sale earlier this year, and it’s been great to see the positive response its received since its launch.”
