Renault has scored a hat-trick of victories at Fleet World’s Great British Fleet Awards 2025, after the Renault Master carried away two accolades – ‘Large Van of the Year’ and ‘Van of the Year’ – while the Renault 5 E-Tech electric was crowned ‘Best Compact EV’.
Both drew praise from the judges for their thoughtful and appealing design – inside and out – while the fleet-focused title further highlighted the Renault Master’s efficiency and generous specification.
The Renault Master won its accolades for demonstrating its appeal for fleet operators and drivers alike, regardless of how it is powered. Designed to go further, carry more and cost less, it is available in a range of versions spanning load spaces of 11 to 20 cubic metres, with a 40mm wider opening at the sliding side door and 100mm longer load capacity.
Declaring the Renault Master ‘Large Van of the Year’, John Kendall, Editor at Van Fleet World, said: “Renault is undergoing a transformation in both its car and commercial vehicle ranges. The new Master went on sale recently, offering electric or two-litre diesel power with aerodynamic design extending electric range and MPG. It looks good and drives well. In the cab there is extensive storage space, a 10-inch touchscreen in the dashboard, while digital instruments will be available this year. Two trim levels provide comprehensive spec even for entry-level Advance models. Renault has produced a strong competitor in the large van sector designed for the electric future as well as current diesel rivals.”
As the Renault Master was awarded the overall title of ‘Van of the Year’, Kendall continued: “Renault took us by surprise late in 2023 when it unveiled the new Master. We were expecting a facelift, but the new model was launched at Solutrans in Lyon that year. The bold new exterior is matched by a new interior, while comprehensive equipment means drivers are well provided for regardless of the trim level chosen. Diesel and electric variants are good to drive, while it offers a competitive payload and load space. The aerodynamic design should help to keep total cost of ownership down. All you need in a large van is here.”
On selecting the Renault 5 E-Tech electric as the winner in the ‘Best Compact EV’ category, John Challen, Editor at Fleet World, described the Renault 5 as “one of the most eagerly-awaited vehicles – let alone EVs – for a very long time. And also a triumphant return for an iconic model name in motoring. The Renault 5 injects a massive dose of fun into driving, from its standout looks and the clever lighting cues to a well thought-out interior. Decent driving range is a big plus, too.”
Available in five versions across three trim levels, with a 40kWh urban range battery and 120hp or a 52kWh comfort range battery and 150hp for a range of up to 252 miles (WLTP), the Renault 5 E-Tech electric offers comfortable seating for five as well as a practical 326-litre boot, complete with dedicated storage for charging cables.
Justin Costello, Head of Fleet at Renault Group, said: “These latest awards are a fantastic recognition of the appeal our new product line-up has for fleet buyers. Whether it’s an all-electric hatchback or the most versatile large van on the market, Renault has a solution for fleets and businesses of all sizes.”
The Renault Master is available from £33,500 plus VAT or £37,500 plus VAT after PiVG for the E-Tech electric versions, while the Renault 5 E-Tech electric starts from only £22,995 OTR.
