This is no concept – it’s a real car on sale right now. It might be out of most people’s price bracket, but with style this good – a rarity in modern car design – it stands apart. Today’s car design has become bloated, weighed down by safety regulations and countless rules most people have never even heard of, leaving us with oversized, glorified anodine pillows on wheels.
The Polestar 5 becomes the brand’s new four-door performance Grand Tourer, translating the 2020 Precept concept into production with minimal changes. Is it the most stylish car on sale right now? It has to be a contender. That being said, style doesn’t guarantee sales success. Anyway…
At five metres long, the flagship combines pure Scandinavian design with aviation-inspired aerodynamics, a low 0.24 Cd, and a panoramic glass roof that maximises interior space and light.
Inside, the 4+1 seat cabin blends driver-focused ergonomics with Swedish comfort, using sustainable materials such as flax-based composites, recycled PET, and Econyl.
Powered by Polestar’s new Performance Architecture with a bonded aluminium platform and in-house developed rear motor, the Polestar 5 debuts 800V technology, rapid 350kW charging, and up to 416 miles of range.
The Dual motor version delivers 550kW and 0–60mph in 3.8 seconds, while the Performance edition raises output to 650kW and 1,015Nm for a 3.1-second sprint. Advanced safety and driver assistance technologies include the SmartZone sensor array, 11 cameras, and Pilot Assist.
Available to order now, the Polestar 5 Dual motor Launch Edition starts at £89,500, with the Performance Launch Edition priced from £104,900.
