Following the positive response to Kwik Fit’s first road trip documentary, this week sees the launch of The Scenic Route 2. Having focused last year on Scotland’s NC500, the new edition covers the pinnacle of Welsh journeys – The Cambrian Way.
The film reunites British racing legend turned TV presenter Jason Plato, current BTCC driver Daniel Rowbottom and TV star Jodie Kidd, tracking their journey on one of the Uk’s most beautiful road trips. For this trip they are joined by Sky Sports presenter and Radio X DJ Polly James who is able to share her local expertise.
Starting in Polly’s home city of Cardiff, the team follow the spine of Wales along the Cambrian Way, taking in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Parks on the way, including the famous black Mountain Pass. Other diversions see the group explore Portmeirion and Llanfair PG, the village whose full name* is the Uk’s longest, ending their journey in Anglesey.
As well as new locations, the team hit the road in a trio of new vehicles, covering the trip in an audi RS4 Estate, a Porsche Cayenne GTS and an Abarth Spider. All the cars were fitted with Bridgestone tyres – Potenza Sport for the audi and Porsche and Turanza AllSeason 6 for the Abarth.
In addition to showing the team’s wonder at the beauty of the Welsh mountains, valleys and coasts, The Scenic Route 2 will be supported by a range of video content in which the drivers cover a variety of topics. These include safety advice, the checks to make before travelling and the importance of motorists choosing the right tyres for their circumstances.
With the used car market offering premium marques at a wide range of budgets, many drivers will be tempted by older models still capable of delivering high performance. While these can be picked up for a relative bargain it’s vital that owners don’t compromise on tyres. They need to ensure that the high performance can be used safely, especially on challenging roads such as the Cambrian Way.
Kwik Fit will also be sharing a range of behind the scenes, outtakes and blooper videos. The videos can be seen on Kwik Fit’s social channels as well as via its website at kwik-fit.com.
Danny Macro, head of digital marketing at Kwik Fit says: “We had a fantastic response to our first road trip film so the obvious choice was to ask the team to explore another of the Uk’s iconic routes. The Cambrian Way has not disappointed, the footage is absolutely stunning, the team bounce off each other brilliantly and we’ve also captured valuable insights from their motoring expertise. We can’t wait to hear the reaction from viewers and even suggestions for where we could go next.”
The production is supported by Bridgestone and is now freely available to view on YouTube.
