It now seems that the relationship between Netflix and F1 has truly become inseparable. Originally it was the very first season of Drive to Survive, released in 2019, which marked the landing of the Circus on the famous streaming content platform. In addition to this series, always much talked about and destined to continue to divide fans, Netflix’s motoring ‘catalogue’ has significantly expanded: the latest addition, announced today in Berlin, concerns Michael Schumacher and the season of his first World title win, the controversial and dramatic one of 1994. Without too much imagination, the documentary is actually called Schumacher ’94 and aims to relive all the crucial moments of that season, which marked a fundamental watershed in history of F1. The film is produced by LEONINE Documentaries and directed by Christin Freitag. Among the people involved and who will intervene in the documentary there will also be Michael Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, who had already been the protagonist of a previous documentary about the seven-time German world champion published by Netflix in 2021. “1994 marks a turning point in the history of Formula 1: the twenty-five-year-old Michael Schumacher wins the first Grand Prix of the season in Brazil, laying the foundations for an unprecedented career – reads the synopsis of the film, released by Netflix – 1994, one of the most dramatic and emotional seasons in the history of Formula 1, was characterized by high-impact events, such as Ayrton Senna’s fatal crash, as well as accusations of manipulation and misconduct on the track. At the same time, a real “Schumi Mania” emerged. Michael Schumacher’s wife, Corinna Schumacher, and other people close to him remember what he was like during that time Schumacher, who has always been her emotional support, also offers a glimpse into the beginnings of an extraordinary love story, which continues to this day.”
Netflix has taken a liking to it: the documentary ‘Schumacher 94’ will be released in 2026
