Chinese EV maker Leapmotor unveils the B05 in Europe with up to 482 km range, fast charging, and starting price of €26,900, challenging European rivals.
Chinese brand Leapmotor has unveiled its new electric vehicle, the B05, at the Poznań auto show. The rear-wheel-drive model delivers 160 kW, achieves a WLTP range of up to 482 km, and starts at €26,900, strengthening the position of Chinese cars in Europe. The B05 is the brand’s first “sporty” model for the European market. It targets the mass segment and competes with models like the Volkswagen ID.3, MG4, and Renault Megane E-Tech.Chassis development was carried out jointly with Stellantis engineers, resulting in a 50:50 weight distribution and more balanced handling. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, setting it apart among budget EVs.media.stellantis.comLeapmotor offers two battery options: a base 56.2 kWh pack with a range of up to 401 km, and a larger 67.1 kWh pack providing up to 482 km. The model uses Cell-to-Chassis technology to increase energy density.Fast charging at up to 174 kW can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in about 17 minutes. This makes the model competitive in a segment where charging speed is becoming a key factor. The launch of the B05 intensifies pressure on European manufacturers. Chinese brands continue to offer more affordable EVs with solid specs, gradually shifting the market balance. Leapmotor is betting on a combination of price, technology, and partnerships with major players like Stellantis, which could help the brand gain a quicker foothold in Europe.
