The iCAUR V23 has firmly established itself as a class leader in safety, earning a coveted five-star rating from ASEAN NCAP. With exceptional performance across frontal, side, and rollover crash tests, this electric SUV demonstrates how advanced engineering and intelligent safety systems can provide drivers and passengers with unparalleled peace of mind.
At the heart of the V23’s safety credentials is its reinforced structure and energy-management design. Its front cabin is engineered to absorb impact forces efficiently, with key components such as the front longitudinal beam, subframe, and upper longitudinal beam working together to distribute collision energy and prevent intrusion into the passenger compartment. During the demanding 40% frontal offset test at 64 km/h, the V23’s airbags deployed instantly, the high-voltage system shut down safely with zero electrolyte leakage, and the battery pack remained fully intact. Doors automatically unlocked, ensuring occupants could exit safely.
Side-impact protection is equally impressive. In the 50 km/h side collision test with a 950 kg moving barrier, the V23 achieved a perfect eight-point score. Its higher stance allows side sills to engage earlier in an impact, while integrated energy-absorbing boxes provide additional protection for the battery pack. Six airbags, combined with pre-tensioned and load-limiting seatbelts for all seats, ensure comprehensive protection across frontal, side, and rollover scenarios. More than 70% of the V23’s body is constructed from high-strength steel, including 18% hot-stamped steel, forming a rigid and resilient safety cage.

Child occupant safety is another area where the V23 excels, earning 42.5 points in ASEAN NCAP assessments. Advanced safety assist technologies reinforce its protective envelope, with full marks achieved in AEB City and AEB Inter-Urban tests. The V23’s sophisticated 1V3R sensor suite, which combines a high-resolution camera with three millimetre-wave radars, allows the autonomous emergency braking system to reliably detect vehicles, pedestrians, and motorcycles in a variety of urban and highway scenarios. In real-world testing, the system effectively detected a motorcycle attempting to overtake from behind, triggering blind-spot alerts and preventing a potential collision.
“The roads in South Africa are unpredictable—you never know what’s coming next,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager at iCAUR South Africa. “Ahead of the V23’s debut here, its five-star safety rating confirms it’s built to handle these conditions. With a robust structure, advanced active safety systems, and a battery engineered for crash resilience, the V23 gives local motorists confidence and peace of mind like no other SUV on the market.”
The iCAUR V23 is more than just an electric SUV—it’s a rolling testament to the future of vehicle safety. By combining high-strength engineering, meticulous crash protection, and intelligent, proactive safety systems, it sets a new benchmark for what drivers can expect from modern electric mobility.
