Pillar of the team The 2025 World Championship was very difficult to face for the entire Alpine team, which found itself with the worst car on the grid and ended the championship in last place in the Constructors’ standings with only 22 points scored, 48 less than second-to-last Sauber. The entire seasonal haul of the Enstone team was achieved by Pierre Gasly alone, who despite the technical difficulties in which he inevitably found himself bogged down, proved to be a driver of absolute value. It is therefore not surprising that Flavio Briatore and Alpine have locked him down with a contract until the end of the 2028 season, thus making him the team’s point of reference in a phase of profound revolution. In fact, in 2026, taking advantage of the upheaval of the technical regulations, Alpine has decided to move from being Renault’s factory team to becoming a Mercedes customer, purchasing the Brixworth power units. Towards rebirth On the eve of this new season which could completely change the balance of the grid, Pierre Gasly himself spoke to the microphones of the Rolling Stone website. The 1996 class, who boasts only one victory in F1 gained in the crazy Italian GP of 2020, wants to make up for lost time and finally be a protagonist of the top battle in the Circus. And – perhaps surprisingly – Gasly said he was convinced that he could succeed in this undertaking with Alpine. “I want to win this year – declared Gasly – it’s the only thing I want. I really believe in the team and the staff we have in the factory. I really believe that we have the ingredients to be successful in Formula 1. I really hope that from this year onwards we can start fighting for the podium and that we can get my second victory. We know that we haven’t been at the level we would like, but we also know that something big is about to come – concluded the French #10 – we have been through a moment of great crisis, but we hope to recover and arrive as soon as possible as high as possible in 2026. I really believe in us as a team and I want to be the one to take us back to the top.”
