Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Sweet Home Toyota Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, Toyota settled in Alabama in 2001, and now its Huntsville plant has a lot of big wheels turning thanks to the nearly 1 million engines and 500,000 differentials assembled each year. What started as a $220 million investment has grown into a staggering $1.7 billion advanced manufacturing facility.

From Legendary Trucks to Lasting Impact
Toyota Alabama started with a single engine line powering the Tundra. Today, the facility assembles four- and six-cylinder engines for seven of the nine Toyota vehicles assembled in North America; This represents nearly half of the automaker’s engines assembled in the region each year.

To date, more than 11 million engines have rolled off Toyota Alabama production lines. one in 2025 282 million dollar investment expanded the production capacity of the facility to the installation of three state-of-the-art differentials.

Over the past 25 years, Toyota has donated more than $24 million to local nonprofits and community organizations. investment of approximately 11 million dollars in Huntsville City Schools through the Toyota USA Foundation’s Driving Opportunities.

At a special event celebrating twenty-five years since groundbreaking, Toyota celebrated its legacy by awarding five local nonprofits with $25,000 in donations. total $125,000 and supporting students in Driving Possibilities schools. Award recipients include:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valleyfunding a student mentoring program;

Teach 2 for freeproviding teachers with basic school supplies and resources;

Enrichment Centerprovision of school-based mental health therapy services;

Schools Foundationsupporting professional development programs for school administrators in order to increase student success; And

Huntsville Hospital FoundationWe support families with properly installed, up-to-date car seats through the Child Passenger Safety Program.

Driving Possibility is a national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education initiative that brings together the community, education leaders, local and national nonprofits, and industry partners.
