Shakedown F1 Barcelona, Mercedes at the top The Barcelona tests have passed the halfway point: the third of the five days of shakedown has just ended at Montmeló, for a day that clearly smiled on Mercedes. Obviously, not much weight should be given to chronometric references, but the Brackley team can be happy with their day-3, which was completed with a double. Kimi Antonelli would set the best time of the day in 1:17.382, a time achieved in the afternoon that would be two tenths better than that of teammate George Russell (1:17.580). The conditional remains a must, because it is worth reiterating that these are unofficial times, provided not by F1 but by the Spanish newspaper SoyMotor. For the class of 2006, the best data would be a long run over the race distance performed in the afternoon at a constant pace without encountering any particular problems. Great mileage for Mercedes: a total of 183 laps for the Antonelli-Russell duo. World champion Lando Norris would have stopped in third place, almost a second and a half behind the Bolognese’s W17. These confirmed minor problems for Haas and Racing Bulls on the cars of Oliver Bearman and Arvid Lindblad respectively. Something more relevant for Nico Hülkenberg’s Audi, which would have completed only five laps in the morning. Also considering the sure presence of McLaren and the possible addition of Mercedes and Red Bull (they will be able to choose between today and tomorrow) there will be many big names on the track.
