The 15th edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2026 concluded with a powerful message highlighting Malaysia’s emerging position as a high-value, future-ready automotive and mobility hub. The event once again positioned the country at the center of cross-border cooperation, advanced technologies and regional automotive growth.
The fair, held in Kuala Lumpur, brought together 317 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions in an exhibition area of ​​12,538 square meters. A total of 16,523 visitors from 58 countries confirmed the strong international confidence in the ASEAN automotive ecosystem and its growing investment potential.
A wide range of solutions covering the OEM and aftermarket sectors were showcased at the event, including passenger vehicles, commercial transport, motorcycles and logistics. In addition to the exhibition, more than 50 side events and more than 80 business matching sessions strengthened business networking and industry engagement.
Malaysia aims for smart mobility leadership
At the opening ceremony, Malaysian Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibullah emphasized the country’s desire to become not only a country with high car ownership, but also a smart and leading automotive market.
Malaysia has set bold targets that reflect its strong commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility transformation, aiming for electric vehicles to account for 20% of new car sales by 2030 and 80% by 2050.
Strong international engagement in ASEAN and beyond
The 2026 exhibition highlighted Malaysia’s growing role in the global automotive supply chain, with 36% of exhibitors coming from ASEAN countries. Visitors from 58 countries and regions attended the event, with strong representatives from China, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam and Korea.
Leading global and regional industry players including BMW, Bosch, Chery, Toyota, Perodua, Petronas, Shopee, Lazada, Valeo and others attended the event, reflecting the broad industry scope from manufacturing to digital commerce.
Focus on digitalization, EV transition and supply chain integration
There was a strong emphasis on electric mobility, digital transformation and supply chain integration in the exhibition halls. Automotive mobility solutions, diagnostics, repair technologies, body and paint systems, electrical and electronics, lubricants and customization services were discussed at the fair.
Major exhibitors included global and regional brands such as Brembo, TecAlliance, Stellantis, Leoch Battery, TUHU, Yonming and others, representing both production and sales segments of the automotive ecosystem.
Knowledge sharing and technical training drive growth in the sector
The Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference featured 20 expert speakers discussing mobility trends, EV adoption, renewable energy and regional investment opportunities. Over 560 participants attended the sessions.
Meanwhile, more than 960 participants attended the Collision Repair Training Workshop; The importance of hands-on training for industry development was emphasized, focusing on electric vehicle repair technologies, artificial intelligence-based diagnostics, sustainable painting systems and live technical demonstrations.
Automotive culture meets the business world at AutoFEST@KL
The event also celebrated automotive culture through autoFEST@KL, which featured esports competitions, classic car exhibitions, JDM showcases and interactive experiences that brought the industry and enthusiasts together in a dynamic environment.
Strong outlook for regional cooperation
Participants and buyers emphasized the event’s role as a central platform for ASEAN trade and cooperation. The exhibition enabled direct interaction between manufacturers, distributors, workshop operators and technology providers across the global automotive value chain.
Participants from Malaysia, China, Italy, Japan and Myanmar highlighted the event’s effectiveness in connecting markets, sharing expertise and creating new business opportunities across borders.
Next edition confirmed for 2027
The next edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will take place from 8 to 10 April 2027 and will continue its role as one of the most important automotive aftermarket and mobility platforms in the ASEAN region.
