Tesla decided to stop production of Model S and X in order to turn its Fremont factory into an Optimus robotics center…
Tesla is relocating one of its main factories in the United States to focus on humanoid robot production. The company will end production of the Model S and X at its Fremont, California, factory and convert the space to large-scale production of the Optimus. This move was detailed by Elon Musk in his fourth quarter earnings call. This decision marks a clear shift in the automaker’s strategy to expand beyond electric vehicles.

Optimus represents an autonomous robotic platform designed to operate in industrial, commercial and residential environments. According to recent statements, Tesla plans to start first production later this year. This initiative could profoundly redefine the company’s business model.
The Fremont plant will continue to operate production lines for other vehicles.
The entire space vacated by the S and X models will be reserved for Optimus.
When full capacity is reached, the annual production capacity is expected to reach one million units.
The third generation of the robot is expected to be introduced in the coming months.
This change comes at a time when sales are slowing in Tesla’s electric vehicle segment. While the company has posted modest growth in deliveries in recent quarters, its focus on artificial intelligence is gaining momentum. Investors closely follow the announced deadlines to avoid surprises in the calendar.
