Horner-Alpine, Briatore: “He is in negotiations with Otro Capital for 24% of the team”

The former Red Bull follows the example of Toto Wolff Christian Horner is a ‘luxury unemployed’ as far as F1 is concerned and in the summer the gardening leave that the former Red Bull team principal must observe after being relieved of his duties by the Milton Keynes team last July will expire. The British manager was given ‘close’ to Alpine, Aston Martin and also to Haas. On the occasion of the presentation of the Alpine A526, the advisor of the French team Flavio Briatore confirmed that Horner’s interest in the Alpine is concrete. Otro Capital owns 24% of the team’s shares and in September will be able to sell these shares which have increased in value compared to the investment dated September 2023. Horner could start to take over 24% of Alpine and then possibly continue the ‘climb’ in terms of control and ownership of the Enstone-based team. Briatore, however, clarified the fact that the excellent relationship that binds him to Horner is not currently influencing the future of the shares of Otro Capital and therefore of Alpine: “Horner is negotiating with Otro Capital, not with us or with me – explained Briatore as reported by The-Race.com – there are various groups interested in the shares of Otro Capital, six or seven, every day I receive a phone call about Otro Capital. The moment someone buys the 24% by taking over the shares of Otro Capital we still have 75% and from there we will have to discuss. First we need to buy Otro’s share, then Renault must accept the buyer and then we will see what will happen.”
