With the shakedown completed at the home circuit of Fiorano, the next appointment for the Ferrari SF-26 will be the pre-season tests in Barcelona. By regulation, the teams will be able to choose three of the five days scheduled to shoot, organizing the work program accordingly. The Scuderia di Maranello will make its debut no earlier than Tuesday, like McLaren, albeit for different reasons. The plan Both Ferrari and McLaren will deliberately miss the first day of testing in Barcelona. In the case of the Woking team, the choice derives from the desire to take as much time as possible to develop the MCL40, with the world champions intending to run immediately in a configuration similar to the one they will race in Australia. Completely opposite is the case of the Cavallino, which, having announced the arrival of updates in the coming weeks and having already taken its first steps on the track with the SF-26, has no interest in delaying its test debut to work one more day in the wind tunnel. One hypothesis is that the Maranello team prefers to send the customer teams ahead of time, so as to immediately collect data on the power unit without risking a reliability problem compromising the time available to run and work on the car. Vasseur was clear, reiterating that the priority in Barcelona will be to strengthen reliability and accumulate kilometres. So let’s meet on Tuesday, for the first kilometers on the track of the SF-26 in a collective session.
