Production-ready cabin designed around AD level 3 marks the transition from concept to deployable technology for autonomous interiors Yanfeng has introduced the XiM27, a production-ready, drivable smart cabin concept designed for level 3 and above autonomous driving scenarios, built around a central domain controller that connects seating, climate, infotainment and lighting systems in real time. The multi-purpose van format supports cabin configurations that switch between workspace, lounge and relaxation modes in seconds. The central domain controller establishes real-time connectivity between all interior systems, with ultra-long floor rails running the entire length of the cabin to allow for independent seat and console movement. Seating options include a first-to-market lounge layout, a dynamic rocking seat, a second row that converts to a flat bed, and a third row that switches between cargo and lounge modes. “Cabin components and innovations are production-ready, engineered from day one for safe, comfortable experiences at AD Level 3 and above, so time spent in the car ultimately feels as valuable as time spent at home or in the office,” Patrick Nebout, Chief Technology Officer of Yanfeng Technology, said in a statement. The artificial intelligence (AI) system automatically adjusts seat position, firmness and temperature based on learned user preferences. A 35.4-inch panoramic head-up display (HUD) is integrated into the instrument panel, and the steering wheel folds into the instrument cluster to facilitate transitions between manual and autonomous modes. XiM27 wins the 2026 Red Dot Design Concept Award.
