For pre-2026 model years, the adapters will become available from November18th at Volkswagen dealerships or online via the VW website. The adapter has a retail price of $200, although ‘original owners’ of MY25 ID.4 and ID. Buzz EVs may be eligible for a $100 rebate following purchase. For 2026 EVs and onwards, the adapters will be included as standard with purchase. The adapters are intended to enable drivers to take advantage of Tesla’s sprawling Supercharger network, which remains the dominant fast charging network in North America and pioneered the NACS standard. The adapter can, of course, also be used for charging on other networks adopting the NACS standard alongside CCS – such as EVgo, Electrify America, ChargePoint, Ionna and others. It means VW join a number of other EV makers offering NACS adapters to their North American customers. Most recently, this included Audi and Porsche, but it also includes the likes of Kia, Hyundai, Ford and others.Petar Danilovic, SVP of Product Marketing and Strategy at VW of America, has called the launch of the adapters ‘great news’ for his EV customers: “They will now be able to access the more than 25,000 DC fast chargers on the Tesla Supercharger network across the United States, in addition to the more than 5000 fast chargers on Electrify America’s grid.”vw.com
