Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ Crafter has started the year with success, after being named ‘Best Large Van’ at the inaugural Van Reviewer Awards
Blending comfort with capability, judges praised the vehicle’s impressive load space and payload which make it a practical everyday workhorse
The Crafter was also highlighted for its precise steering, manoeuvrability and car-like ergonomics, despite its size

Milton Keynes, UK, 12 January 2026 – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has started the year with success, as the Crafter took home ‘Best Large Van’ at the inaugural Van Reviewer Awards.
Recognised for its outstanding ride quality and premium driving experience, judges praised the Crafter’s market-leading suspension, steering, and visibility, which together make for a comfortable everyday drive.
With a cargo volume of up to 18.4m3, wide sliding doors that open up to 1,311mm and a high load compartment of up to 2,196mm high, the Crafter is designed with space and flexibility in mind, ready for heavy-duty work.
Additional to its impressive capacity, a premium finish inside the van creates a refined working environment with car-like ergonomics, with judges recognising the Crafter as “a van that blends comfort and capability better than anything else in its class”.
2026 marks the first year of the Van Reviewer What To Buy Awards, which celebrate the best vans available on the market, as judged by Van Reviewer’s editorial team.
Commenting on the award, George Barrow, Editor at Van Reviewer, said: “The Crafter really stands out for the overall sense of quality it delivers. It’s exceptionally comfortable for a large van, and is calm and composed whether you’re covering long motorway distances or loading it up to full weight for a hard day’s work. It’s a van that’s genuinely easy to live with day after day, and continues to set the benchmark for ride comfort and refinement in the large van sector.”
Eve Tyers, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, added: “We’re proud that the Crafter has been selected as ‘Best Large Van’ in the inaugural Van Reviewer Awards. At Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, we know how important it is to have a van that can be relied upon to get the job done, day in, day out, while prioritising the experience and comfort of our drivers. It’s great to see the judges recognise the Crafter for its excellence in these areas.”
