The system, developed in collaboration with EA Elektro-Automatik, also supports other common charging standards and is available now, according to Vector. The system delivers scalable DC charging power of up to 3.84 MW, enabling load and endurance testing under real-world conditions. The vCTS.performance and its HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) system tests are designed to ensure the conformity and interoperability of charging communication between electric vehicles (EV) and charging infrastructure (EVSE). Since the test device is designed for the aforementioned 3.84 MW, it should enable “realistic load and endurance testing under real-world conditions,” according to the manufacturer. “This ensures that both EVs and EVSEs meet the charging communication standards and function reliably,” wrote Vector. And with up to 3.84 MW of power, the vCTS.performance is also future-proof, as the MCS is designed for a maximum of 3.75 MW, with the first applications tending to be around the megawatt mark.According to Vector, the performance of the new system is scalable in 60 kW increments. As the unit supports CCS, NACS, GB/T and CHAdeMO in addition to MCS, stations with all common charging standards can be tested. The vCTS.performance is also said to be energy-efficient, as the regenerative charging power with energy fed back into the grid is expected to achieve an efficiency of more than 96 per cent.“With vCTS.performance, Vector sets new standards for high-power charging tests for electric vehicles and makes a significant contribution to the advancement and validation of charging communication in electromobility,” said Jan Großmann, Product Manager for the vCTS.performance at Vector.Vector describes itself as a “leading solution provider and trusted partner in the development and networking of software-defined systems.” The company is active in areas such as medical technology, the Internet of Things, aerospace and, of course, the automotive industry. However, the company’s involvement with MCS is not limited to its test equipment: in May, Vector started production of its MCS controller for megawatt charging systems.presseagentur.com
