Explore the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun updates, including a 10.25-inch digital display, panoramic sunroof, 8-speed automatic transmission, and Google AI integration.
The updated Volkswagen Taigun now features a 10.25-inch digital driver display, which is larger than the previous 8-inch screen. Beyond the increased size, Volkswagen has integrated step-by-step navigation routing and four switchable display themes into the system.Panoramic SunroofA panoramic sunroof is new for the Volkswagen Taigun, as the pre-facelift model only had a single-pane sunroof. However, the single-pane sunroof remains available in the mid-level Highline Plus and GT Line trims, while the panoramic sunroof is offered in the Topline and Sport and Chrome packages within the GT Plus trim.New Automatic TransmissionSimilar to the facelifted Skoda Kushaq, the 2026 Volkswagen Taigun also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, replacing the 6-speed unit for the 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 115 horsepower. This new transmission is expected to deliver smoother gear shifts during both acceleration and deceleration, mirroring the performance seen in the Kushaq. The 8-speed automatic has also improved the claimed fuel consumption by 1.39 liters per 100 kilometers compared to the previous 6-speed automatic.Front Parking SensorsThe updated Taigun now includes front parking sensors in addition to the rear ones. However, only rear sensors are standard, with front sensors available exclusively in the Highline trim.Google AI AssistantAlthough the touchscreen size remains unchanged at 10.1 inches, the same as the previous model, the updated Taigun now features cloud integration with Google AI. Volkswagen claims this will enable more natural control of vehicle functions via voice commands. Additionally, the Taigun’s infotainment system now comes with 15 pre-installed apps, including YouTube, Spotify, and the Vivaldi browser, making the driving experience more engaging.Enhanced Climate Control SystemOne of the main issues with the Volkswagen Taigun was the poor performance of its climate control system, with users complaining that it struggled to cool the cabin during summer. Volkswagen stated that the problem has been addressed by installing a more powerful air conditioning system, replacing the fixed-geometry compressor with a variable-geometry one. However, the real improvement will only become apparent once we get behind the wheel.New Headlight TechnologyIn the updated version, Volkswagen has removed the fog lights previously mounted on the bumper. But this feature hasn’t disappeared: the fog lights are now integrated into the SUV’s headlights. The new headlights feature polygonal light elements and automatic leveling, which are said to provide cornering illumination and perform in all weather conditions—exactly what you’d expect from conventional fog lights. Still, we’ll only be able to verify these claims once we get our hands on the updated Volkswagen Taigun.
