The MCL40 hits the track McLaren is ready to get serious. After having ‘rested’ in the first two days of the shakedown tests being carried out in Barcelona, the world champion Constructors’ team and with the world Drivers’ champion Lando Norris among its ranks will finally test the track tomorrow and until Friday, thus taking advantage of all the last three days made available to the teams. The papaya team released a statement at the end of Tuesday in which it reports that it has used these first two days in which it left the track to others to “assemble and control” the entire venture. “With track testing for the 2026 season underway and permitted driving time limited to three days out of a five-day period, the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team approached this week’s Barcelona Shakedown using full program flexibility,” the statement reads. “We plan to take to the track over the final three days of testing, with the first few days providing an important opportunity to assemble and check the entire car.”
